SuperSpeed™ Ball Point Set Screws

Regular price $5.00

Knurled set screws (or grubs) are a pain and can destroy your axle by causing divets on the axle surface making it difficult to extract, and even potentially causing the axle to go out of round.  To solve these problems, all SuperSpeed™ SB-type rear axle bearings come with a novel ball point design originally invented by NTN.  Rather than grinding into the surface of your axle, these set screws make a tiny detent in the axle that does not interfere with axle removal, allowing you to change axles without damaging your bearings or hubs.

Like any set screw, you will want to check the tightness the first few times you run after installing a new bearing, as well as occasionally on an ongoing basis to make sure the set screws have not worked loose. You may also want to use thread locker on the set screws to help keep down in place. But you may want to keep a few spares on hand, just in case.

When ordering, please be sure to select the model that fits your specific SuperSpeed™ bearing type.

These set screws can be used on any bearing that utilizes a standard size set screw for the applicable bearing type, as specified here.
